History
Indiana General Assembly established Indiana State University as Indiana State Normal School in December, 1865. The School was later renamed as Indiana State Teachers College in 1929 which was renamed as Indiana State College in 1961. Finally it was named as Indiana State University in 1965. The university was started with an aim to educate elementary and school teachers. But the growth with years made it diversify into educating other sections of the society.
